Dave’s Story

Dave Ware serves as Hattiesburg’s Councilman for Ward 4. Elected in 2006 with 79% of the vote to fill the unexpired term of retiring councilman Red Bailey, Dave Ware was elected to a full term in 2009. He now serves as Vice President of the City Council.

At age 40, Dave is Hattiesburg’s youngest councilman. In his six-plus years in office, he has spearheaded revitalization efforts in Hattiesburg’s oldest commercial and residential neighborhoods. Dave offers an independent, proactive approach to municipal public policy. Accessible to constituents, his willingness to take tough stands on important issues brings accountability to all areas of city government.

Dave works as a certified registered nurse anesthetist for Southern Anesthesia, a company that he founded in 2000. He earned degrees from Jones County Junior College, The University of Southern Mississippi and Xavier University. Dave also works as President of Walthall Development, restoring and rehabilitating numerous historic buildings in Hattiesburg.
